Kultur 7, Gabrielle Lewis

I quite enjoyed the article about driving do's and don'ts in Germany. While visiting Berlin a few summers ago, I vaguely recall my aunt warning me about not driving in cars with my friends (they were visiting from Italy and did not know the city). She said she'd much prefer me to use the public transportation system, simply because she did not trust drivers in Germany unless they were German.

Although this article is clearly comedic in nature, there is much truth to the material presented. I once nearly met my demise while attempting to cross a street while the pedestrian light blinked red. I figured that the pedestrian always has the right of way in the US, so it couldn't be too different in Germany. Wrong. I was barely two steps across the street before realizing no one was going to stop. Needless to say, I sprinted back to the corner and was rather mortified.
