One of the things I like doing is listening to music, of all types. I always found German music cool, and the language also sounded cool even though I did not know anything. I started by listening to some Rammstein, which is one of my favorite metal groups in general because of the music, the lyrics, the lead singer's deep voice, and of course because it is in German! One of my favorite songs is "Mein Herz Brennt" (My Heart Burns). I find everything about this song great, so here are the lyrics of the main verse:
Nun liebe Kinder gebt fein acht (Now, dear children, pay attention)
ich bin die Stimme aus dem Kissen (I am the voice from the pillow)
ich hab euch etwas mitgebracht (I have brought you something)
ein heller Schein am Firmament (a bright light on the heavens)
Mein Herz brennt (My heart burns)

I went on listening some other favorite songs by Rammstein such as "Du hasst","Feuer Frei" and 'Keine Lust" and I suggest to everyone who likes metal and has not heard of them to look them up on Youtube, sit back, and enjoy!
As I traveled to Ischgl, Austria for snowboarding during the winter break, I followed the tradition of going to bars for a nice cup of Gluhwein after snowboarding (hot red wine with cinammon) and I was lucky to listen to some catchy songs that everyone inside there knew and would sing along! At first it was hard for me to understand the lyrics, but after getting some help from google I managed to find the songs. The catchiest song was "Der DJ aus den Bergen" (The DJ from the mountains) and my second favorite "Viva Colonia" by Hohner, and after looking for it on Youtube, I understand that it is a very popular song during the Oktoberfest. After I looked at these songs I started listening to them and going through some more, but these songs couldn't get out of my head because of their rhythm. Now I understand why Austrians and Germans really enjoyed singing along!
