I was amused and quite surprised to learn of German's aversion to drafty train rides. I would think that in a place that endures such cold winters, the emphasis would be placed more on the colder months... but drafts? Discovering various cultures' odd quirks is one of the many joys of learning. I am curious to experiment the next time I'm on a German train ride. "Es zieht" is what I hope to hear!
Germany sounds like a hypochondriac's dream. The idea of excessive stress leading to hearing loss is interesting... but still quite strange. Deafness should be all pervasive, if that were the case. One of my closest friends is German, and she's usually worried about coming down with something or getting "stress headaches" as she calls them. Perhaps I will show her this article...
