For AMD1, I went to the Goethe Institut website and tried to find some information of cities that offer the language course. I tried to read through the webpage in German. I am actually planning to study in one of the Goethe Institutes in Germany this May and June and I decided to read about one of the cities that I am thinking of taking the course at: Frankfurt am Main. Below is the text from the webpage:
Kultur
I have highlighted some new words that I have learned. Overall, the paragraph was not hard to understand. I first tried to read the text without looking up those highlighted words and I could get the gist of what the paragraph is trying to say.
Mainly it talks about the city's cultural history. Below is my own translation:
Culture
The most famous son of the city is Johann Wolfgan von Goethe. His birthplace is in the Great Deerditch (I assume this is the name of the street that he was born) where he writes <The Sorrows of Young Werther>. In the philosophy history of the 20th century the "Frankfurt School" of Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer takes a prominent position. Absolutely recommendable for culturally interested people is the visit to the Frankfurt Opera, which is considered one of the best music theater in Europe. The city offers, with mroe than 60 bigger and smaller houses, a unique museum landscape. Internationally important museums for film, architecture, applied arts as well as the Jewish museum and the museum for modern art are grouped as the museum shore along the Main River. The national culture section FAZ belongs to the cultural key media of Germany.
