AMD 5 - Making Gluhwein

For this AMD, I decided that since we are talking about Gluhwein, and how tasty it is (I have tried it plenty of times due to my many visits to the alps!), while the weather is still annoyingly cold, why not make some myself and see how easy it to prepare and whether it is as tasty as the ones they serve at the apres-ski bars! No worries! I turned 21 a long time ago! First of all I decided that I want to make Gluhwein like they do in Austria, because it is sweet, as strong as it needs to be, and it is, of course, warm! After searching online, I found the recipe on Austria's official tourist information website.

http://www.austria.info/uk/austrian-cuisine/gluehwein-1561421.html

I bought a bottle of Californian red wine, which I had tried previously, and therefore I knew it was sweet, a few cloves, cinnamon sticks and some fresh oranges. More specifically, the quantitites I used were:

- 1 bottle of red wine (the sweeter it is, the better!)
- 10 cloves
- 2 cinammon sticks
- 1 orange cut in slices
- 1 cup of water

I mixed all these in a pot, I also added some water as instructed on the recipe, and voila! It took about 20 minutes to prepare it, and when it was, I had a sip to see if my attempt was successful or whether I wasted a bottle of wine, but luckily, es war sehr lecker! Since it would be a shame that I would only try it, I invited my friends home and told them to try some of my "magic potion". Some had already drunk Gluhwein in the past, some others had not, but I am quite confident that most of them enjoyed it! I would definitely suggest to someone to try to make Gluhwein. It is not difficult at all, it does not take a lot of time and it is certainly very enjoyable, at least while the weather is still cold!
